I don't know if solar heating the ground water will 1) work, and 2) be worth the effort if it does, I've just always wanted some kind of passive solar heat, using the well as a heat battery just seems cool to me, so if it doesn't work, at least I got it out of my system to try, and there's always the last resort of using what I'm building for a solar water heater, either way, I'm learning about passive solar, hopefully some good will come from it, The water is coming from a shallow well, we live on top of an old swamp that the army corps of engineers filled in during the twenties, so if I dig down 4-5 feet, I hit water, the ground table begins just below the surface of the floor in the basement where the heat pump is located (heat pump 4-5 feet off the floor), the well is also in the basement, it's 14 feet of water with a 2,5 feet diameter when ground table is full,
